hmm he’s not a biblical scholar or theologian. I am hoping one day to find a non-fundamentalist Christian academic to debate/dialogue with. Unfortunately Rev Chris Green turned out to be not really suitable.
Ahh, do notice that Shamoun has some muslim friends who concerned about him.
Just recently brother Yahya Snow ressurect into his blogspace after a year and wrote a special post for Shamoun
The Facts About Islam: Sam Shamoun – Open Letter and Challenge http://bit.ly/Wz5Y5P
I think it is a good advice from him and try to be more Christ-like the like of br. Williams, Shabbir Ally, Tim Wnter, Yusuf Hanson and many others..
Baukham or Dunn? Baukham has done ‘unbelievable’ a few times. The main issue is that most ‘liberal’ christian bible scholars don’t have anything to defend.
One thing I was wondering about (and I ask with all respect) is that ‘you throw around the word fundamentalist quite a lot. How would you define it?’ Is it broadly a belief in inerrancy or something else
I use the term ‘fundamentalism’ in its academic sense as defined in the classic work by Profesor James Barr. Yes, inerrancy is a key concept along with an utter intolerance of non-evangelical forms of the Christian faith. I was a fundamentalist Christian myself for many years, believing the the inerrancy of the Bible, the deity of Christ and so forth. Islam is a much more pluralist and tolerant faith.
He wrote 2 books on this problem: one is an academic analysis entitled ‘Fundamentalism‘, the other is a more pastoral work entitled, ‘Escaping from Fundamentalism‘, published by SCM Press 1990. I recommend them both.
Barr is vital reading for those trapped in the rigid world of fundamentalism as so many Christians are these days. I owe him a personal debt of gratitude.
The inspiration of the Bible and the inerrancy of scripture as a result of this.
The virgin birth of Christ.
The belief that Christ’s death was the atonement for sin.
The bodily resurrection of Christ.
The historical reality of Christ’s miracles.

As I’ve said before I’ve not read barrs work (yet) though I intend to and ‘fundamentalism’ is on my reading list. Can you point out a few examples if you have the time.
Thank you Williams! I really do appreciate that you are so concerned for my health! Gets me all choked up inside.
You’re both probably the greatest voices for your sides alive at the moment. I think you two should debate? What does anyone else think?
not so, Dr Shabir Ally is by far the most expert and most experienced Islamic apologist and debater alive.
Ah good point I forgot about the good Dr Ally. I concede the point. I’d still like to see you two debate. You could make a MDI debate week out of it?
I dont think it would be very edifying – it would just be an opportunity for Sam to abuse me and islam. I have other things to do…
How about William Lane Craig?

@ alkitab
You think Sam Shamoun is the best voice on Christian side !!
My God ! , which way he is the best ?
The lies , misrepresentations , abuses and unscholarly approach he adopts , does this look best to you ?
Any dialogue has to be on a minimum standard of respect , decency and understanding the position of other side , he lacks all this .
@ Sam , one question for you . Why is that you are the exact opposite of Jesus Christ ?
